The program was created by the Wentworth International Department. The month-long program has a two-fold purpose.First, it will provide exposure to the American experience and culture. Secondly, it will provide instruction and opportunities for the group to enhance their English language skills. This innovative program is also drawing attention to Wentworth Military Academy and College on a larger stage. In the State of Missouri, it is drawing attention to the Department of Higher Education, Study Missouri, Chamber of Commerce. Colleges and Universities in the State of Missouri are already aware of the coming of the group and have already requested meetings with them. Also meetings with the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and the new Missouri State Representative for our district have been scheduled as part of the program. The program is also drawing attention to the Internationalization efforts as outlined by the U.S. Department of Education's International Strategy. Finally, in Brazil it is drawing attention due to the new emphasis on providing funds for Study Abroad with the 'Science without Borders" Presidential initiative. This program will be lauded as a step in the right direction and will be featured as an example for others.  Beyond the enhancement of the reputation and visibility of Wentworth Military Academy and College, this pilot program will bring tangible and immediate benefits to Wentworth. The program will bring immediate revenue and the potential of future and greater revenue growth. It will off the opportunity to fully utilize and incorporate existing resources including a native Brazilian staff member. The program will offer the potential for changing the mindset and attitude of all staff and faculty, to one of embracing the future, finding our niche in an ever-changing world of education. The program will increase Wentworth’s ability to compete with other Missouri Higher Education institutions. The new international program aligns with the recent strategic plan implemented at Wentworth Military Academy and College. The program will also serve as a promotion tool for Wentworth Military Academy and College in media outlets.  “Because this is our initial program, I will be deeply involved and it will personally be time demanding. This will include classroom time, and accompanying the group on off campus official events among many other duties.   I am finishing a couple of details on the program and as soon as it is completed, I will be happy to share it with you.  A lot has already been prepared and shared with the group in Brazil, including a guide with detailed information on how to better prepare them to fully enjoy the experience. Many cultural, educational and recreational activities have already been scheduled,” said Cristhina Starke, International Director at Wentworth Military Academy and College.  The Brazilian students are already getting a lot of media attention and are coming with the excitement of a University student and the responsibility of representing their institution and the anticipation of sharing their experience once they return to Brazil.  “I have no doubts that this will be a highly successful program and I thank you in advance for the support  I know you will give to this program,” Starke went on to say.
