Chinese students currently attending Wentworth Military Academy and College took the opporunity to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Under the guidance and direction of Captain Pena, the Chinese students taught their fellow cadets the nature and significance of the Chinese New Year. The Chinese New Year is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. It is known as the "Spring Festival."
The ceremony started with the entry of the Chinese flag by current Chinese and Wentworth Cadets. The rest of the 133rd Corps of Cadets followed and were seated in the dining facility. Once seated, Chinese students demonstrated how the Chinese flag is folded to their fellow cadets.Cadet Wu gave a presentation about the "Spring Festival" and then showed various foods that are served and the meaning of why the food is served. The Chinese students then sang some traditional Chinese songs for their fellow cadets. Cadet Yu then taught everyone how to say "Spring Festival" in Chinese. It was a wonderful learning experience for every cadet in attendance. In addition, the Chinese students exhibited great pride in teaching others about their home country.
