Thirteen cadetsbeing selected for the Army Cultural Understanding and Language Proficiency isa large increase as only two cadets were selected in the 2011-12 academic year.

The selectionprocess begins with a cadet’s application and endorsement by the Army ROTCProfessor of Military Science. Part of the application process allows the cadetto provide a preference of which regional combatant commands’ area ofresponsibility they would like to experience.

An order of meritlist is generated for each specific geographic area and deployment assignmentsare then awarded to each respective cadet.

The increase in numbersdemonstrates the quality and motivation of the cadets at Wentworth MilitaryAcademy and College according to the ROTC Professor of Military Science.

“To me, thisindicates that our cadets are motivated to become culturally astute Army leadersand diplomats that represent the United States of American throughout theworld,” said Lt. Col. Perry. “These cadets’ future opportunities will besignificantly broader as they will become knowledgeable of the culture inanother part of the world.”
